Arrival and Dismissal

The arrival and dismissal system for cars and buses have been designed to ensure the safety of students and orderly progress of vehicles.  Lack of cooperation will result in NO registration for the next school year.  It is the parent's responsibility to inform the designated drivers of the school's policies for arrival and dismissal.

Morning Drop Off:  All cars must use the circular driveway.  It is not permitted to drop off students on 32nd Street in front of the school, on the street between the school and the rectory, nor on the Columbus High School parking lot.  Parents are not allowed in the School plaza at any time during the day, including morning arrival.

Afternoon Pick Up:  (A) Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten with NO siblings dismiss at 2:15 p.m.  (USE SCHOOL DRIVEWAY- RETREAT HOUSE SIDE).  (B)  Bus students dismiss at 2:40 P.M. (USE SCHOOL HALLWAY BY ROOM 109): Students with a walking pass dismiss at 3:10 p.m. (C)  All other students are dismissed at 2:45 p.m. (USE DRIVEWAY). Parents are not allowed in the School plaza at any time during the day, including afternoon dismissal.

Students must be ready with their book bags to board the cars as they approach the pick up area.  No opening of car trunks is allowed.

Parents will not be allowed in school grounds to wait or pick up students.  School grounds include, the driveway, the school plaza and the Columbus High School parking lot.

Walking Passes: If students walk home accompanied by an adult, must apply in writing for a walking pass no later than August 29th. Requests must be for families who live within walking distance. Students riding a car will not be granted a walking pass unless it is accident related.  The Principal must approve all requests.  The student’s parent or guardian picking up the child should carry the pass.  No exceptions will be allowed.

STUDENTS MAY NOT LEAVE THE SCHOOL PREMISES BY MEANS OF THE COLUMBUS HIGH SCHOOL PARKING LOT.  THERE ARE NO SPECIAL PASSES PROVIDED FOR ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL FROM SCHOOL.

STUDENTS WHO HAVE NOT BEEN PICKED UP BY 3:00 P.M. (3:10 P.M. FOR 5th-8th) WILL BE PLACED IN THE AFTER SCHOOL CARE PROGRAM.  THESE STUDENTS WILL BE CHARGED A FEE FOR THE SERVICE.  (See After School Policy Section)

Any person, who gives a ride home to a student from a school other than Saint Brendan Catholic Elementary, must arrange to meet them at a designated location off campus.  These procedures have been established to ensure the safety and well being of all students since this is our primary responsibility.
