EXAM -TESTS-QUIZZES
Exam, tests and quizzes are scheduled in advance. If a student is to miss any of the above, he/she must bring a doctor's certificate in order to schedule a make-up.
HOMEWORK
Homework consists of written and study assignments based on themes taught
in class. Homework may include oral or written assignments, projects,
book reports, etc. Parents are encouraged to supervise the homework
assignments and guide the homework by insisting on neatness, completeness
and following directions. Students in grades first through eighth
will take home a Weekly Homework Sheet on Mondays. Homework Sheets
will reflect the work that students will have to accomplish daily at home
as well as tests or quizzes assigned. This sheet will serve a double
purpose:
1) to inform parents, with ample time, in case they need to help their
child with assignments.
2) in case the student is ill, assignments can be completed before returning
to school.
HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS MAY BE GIVEN ON MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.
Homework will NOT be assigned on Fridays.
Since homework assignments are part of each student's quarterly grade (as
per the Archdiocesan Grading Policy), missed or incomplete assignments
will affect the student's grade for the quarter. Homework is due
as assigned and late assignments are not accepted unless a student has
an excused absence. In case of illness, phone requests to pick-up
homework assignments, books, etc., must be made to the school office before
8:30 a.m. It must be picked up at the end of the school day (after
2:30 p.m.) in the school office. Parental notes may not excuse a
student from completing a homework assignment.
Any student who fails to complete or turn in three (3) homework assignments
in one given subject during a quarter, will be closely monitored and may
be subject to disciplinary action including conduct referral, detention,
etc., in addition to receiving no credit for the homework assignments and
a progress report will be mailed in the middle of the quarter.
REPORT CARDS
The Archdiocesan report cards are issued on a trimester basis, in November, February, and June for grades Kinder to 8th and two times per year for Pre-Kindergarten 2 to Pre-Kindergarten 4, beginning in February. Parents may pick up the report card the night of the Home/School meeting. Refer to the school calendar for dates. Any report card not picked up at the meeting may be picked up at the school office the following school day.

Deficiency reports are sent to parents as the need arises. Parent-Teacher conferences are held twice during the school semester. Faculty members are always eager to discuss pupil progress with the parent. However, we ask that parents make these arrangements through the school office. At no time during school hours are parents to present themselves to a teacher. Conferences and appointments may be scheduled before or after school hours. Lunch time is NOT the time to see teachers because of the limited time they have for lunch.
RECOMMENDATION FOR IMPROVEMENT
A Recommendation for Improvement notice is sent mid-quarter to each student who may receive an academic grade lower than a "C" or has lowered his/her grades more than two grade letters or a student who is having difficulty in the area of Conduct or Effort. Parents are asked to sign and return such notice to the teacher. The parent or the teacher may want to request a conference in order to discuss measures to help the child make the necessary improvement.
