Last summer, our school underwent multiple changes (totaling over one million dollars) in order to safely return our students to in person learning. One major change was the conversion of the school cafeteria into the 4th and 5th grade classrooms.
It has not gone unnoticed that the cafeteria was much more than just a building where students ate their lunch. It was a space to relax and speak with friends from other classes; where they could unwind and enjoy time away from their classroom. In order to fill the void, we are looking into removing the fountain and converting the plaza into an outdoor bistro area with sunshades and tables where students can once again have a space to gather in.
The total estimated cost of this project is: $200,000. This includes the fountain removal, plaza remodel, purchase of sunshades and multiple industrial fans and over 30 all-weather tables.
