Yearbook Club

Yearbook Club is a group of middle school students whose main purpose is to produce the annual Navigator yearbook.  Students will learn basic lessons in photography, writing, editing, and design. Throughout the course of the year, members will take pictures at school and community events and organize them into the yearbook.  All members will be trained to use the Walsworth Yearbook Online Design Program and assisted by Ms. Lucy, will be given the opportunity to design a digital spread that they can work on during scheduled meetings.  The club will also help with other yearbook-related tasks, including marketing ads, organizing picture days, promotions, and yearbook distribution.

Putting together a yearbook from start to finish is a full of tasks that will create valuable learning experiences. These experiences are aimed to teach students valuable skills needed to thrive in the 21st century. Throughout the process, members will apply creativity and innovation; use critical thinking and problem-solving skills; learn to work cooperatively as a team; and develop a sense of accountability and responsibility. Yearbook club also helps build character. The yearbook process provides students with a strong sense of pride when it finally arrives in May. Everyone’s hard work and dedication comes to life in a book that can be treasured for a lifetime.

Robotics Club

The SBE Robotics Club seeks to engage and inspire students from 5th Grade - 8th Grade in a community of shared learning while preparing them for the future. All members share one common goal: problem solving through the application of the five pillars of STEAM (Science, Technology, digital Art, Engineering and Mathematics). Selected members work in teams as they design, construct, and drive robots created using the VEX IQ Robotics parts and curriculum. This structured yet unique system gives students the necessary support to create robots within a guided and flexible environment; affording them the opportunity to expand their creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving abilities all while working on a common challenge.
The SBE Robotics Club moderators strive to set the foundation for all club members to become innovative individuals whom will persevere in designing their robots as robots are the future! As Dr. Roderic Grupen once said, “At bottom, robotics is about us. It is the discipline of emulating our lives, of wondering how we work.”

Mission Club
Mission Club has as its guiding philosophy the following words of Jesus Christ: “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” Luke 11:27 Club members strive to live up to Jesus’ words by working to make positive changes in the world. Students, in grades sixth through eighth, meet to plan, work and participate on a variety of activities to help those in need. Various drives are sponsored by the club throughout the year. The supplies collected during these drives are donated to individuals and institutions in the community and abroad.

NJHS

The NJHS is a student group that was established in 1929 in order to help recognize and promote student achievement in the areas of scholarship, character, service, citizenship and leadership

More than 80 years later, the NJHS has maintained its reputation for excellence, and continues to do so through its members, as well as through the schools and communities that support it.  This reputation could not have been established without the commitment of everyone involved.

Therefore, membership in the NJHS is both an honor and a commitment.  And, through various NJHS chapter service activities, members continue to both maintain and broaden the qualities and capabilities they displayed in order to be selected for the association.

As long as the members and supporters of the NJHS continue to learn and grow in a positive direction, so will the NJHS continue to flourish.
